Saving Pets Challenge

Harley’s Hope Foundation is participating in Michelson’s Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge for the 2nd time.  The crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for animal welfare organizations runs from May 1st through May 31st and requires only a minimum donation of $10.00.  This year’s theme is Big or Small, We Help Them All in honor of our featured pet, Chico.

Some of you may begin tuning us out at this point thinking that nonprofits do nothing but ask for money, and you’re correct.  Charities must seek and secure public funding in order to carry out their missions and help those in need. For safety net groups like Harley’s Hope Foundation, it becomes even more critical to fund-raise year-round as we have no natural revenue streams like adoption or surrender fees, yet receive applications throughout the year.

Harley’s Hope Foundation has always been committed to utilizing a diversified development plan that includes foundation grants, corporate support, individual donations, event revenue, and, in our case, social enterprise funding through the sale of Colorado Kitty Pot catnip (CKP) products.  Please note, at the beginning of this year, CKP transferred over to a for-profit run by the charity founders in order to remove the expenses from the charity’s books, while still donating profit back to the programs.

Because the demand for our services far exceeds funding from the aforementioned sources, we participate in campaigns like the Saving Pets Challenge.  By the way, this is the only national fundraising campaign that takes place outside of the 4th quarter.  And, while we adore our donors who give through the Indy Give! Campaign, Colorado Gives Day, and other year-end donations, funding is needed year-round to help our clients and their pets in need – pets like Chico, who is featured in this month’s Happy Tails column.

Please consider a donation in any amount above $10 to help Colorado’s only full-service safety net organization, and one of a very small number of charities that help throughout the country.  You can give by clicking on this link – https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/harleys-hope-foundation2.   Thank you and please share this newsletter with your animal-loving friends!
