June 2018 Happy Tails!

Titus is a young dog who swallowed two toddler’s socks that were laying on a counter. The items became lodged in the dog’s intestines and due to financial constraints, his person, Jeremy, who works part-time, struggled to provide Titus with emergency assistance. More than a week after Titus ingested the clothing, Jeremy applied to HHF. We approved a grant and directed Jeremy to apply to Ginger’s Legacy, a fellow Colorado charity that helps with veterinary care. Between the two charities, Jeremy had enough pledged funding to move forward with surgery. We held our breath, worried that the items had been in place too long, and that the intestines may have begun to die off. Fortunately for Titus, that hadn’t happened. The surgery went well and he was released to go home the following day. This story could have had a much different ending if funding hadn’t been available to share.
