January 2019 Director’s Notes

Here we are embarking on year 9 of this adventure called running a small, safety net charity. While there was nothing remarkable that stands out about 2018, we know that the services offered to over 85 animals were remarkable to the people who love those companions. Do you have a favorite case from last year? For me, it wasn’t a big veterinary case, which we definitely had plenty of, it was Rose and Dane, a senior citizen and her 10 year old cat. These two soul mates were in danger of being separated when Rose had to change assisted living centers and her family couldn’t afford the pet deposit. Nothing splashy, nothing heart-stopping, but a sad situation that occurs daily for seniors across the country. How lucky we are that our donors made it possible for us to help keep these two together for however long they have. Thank you.

And, thank you to the many people who donated to HHF through Colorado Gives Day and the 2018 Indy Give! Campaign during the fourth quarter. I can’t say it often enough – you are the reason we’re able to carry out our mission and offer the programs that we do. I hope you are proud of the fact that you are helping save lives, helping make a difference through your contributions.

Happy new year to you all and here’s to making an even bigger difference in 2019.
