New to Colorado?

The weather may be starting to cool off but that doesn’t mean you, or your pets, need to be stuck inside until next Spring. There are still many events and activities around the state to keep you busy.  A quick Google search will show you the closest options near you but below are some of the bigger events happening through September.

  • Denver and Colorado Springs are both hosting their annual Pet Expos which draw in approximately 150 exhibitors and 6000 visitors.  The expo features pet demonstrations, training seminars, and even adoptions. It’s a great opportunity to network with other pet owners, learn some new training techniques, buy some fun products, and maybe even find a new family member.
  • Additionally, “Pawtoberfest” is an annual event in Colorado Springs, featuring a dog-friendly festival full of pet activities, vendors, music, and craft beer tasting.  This festival supports the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region so you can support a great cause while having fun with your dog and trying some local Colorado brewing. The day is full of fun for the two and four-legged family.
  • Golden, CO is hosting its own benefit event in support of the Foothills Animal Shelter.  This entertaining day, “Toby’s Pet Parade & Fair,” features a pet costume parade which draws in about 2000 people each year. So, if your pet is comfortable in clothes, this could be a really fun way to spend a day.

In addition to these special events, there are still the indoor options available year-round such as:

  • Pub Dog  – Restaurant and bar with 3,000 square foot fenced off play area for the pups.
  • Switchback Coffee Roasters – Dog friendly patio where you can enjoy your coffee with your best friend.
  • Bristol Brewing Company – Dog-welcoming patios where you can enjoy a local brew and meet other pet lovers.
  • Rocky Mountain Brewery – Dog-friendly inside and out as long as they stay on leash.  There’s a small fenced in area as well, where they can run free while you socialize with friends.

Regardless how you choose to bring in autumn, don’t forget your pets can get restless staying indoors too much.  So, get out, enjoy that fresh mountain air, and explore everything the Colorado fall has to offer.
