Happy Tails

We are so happy to report a happy ending for a case that could have gone either way.  Breadloaf is a 5-year-old Corgi who managed to slip out of his yard and get hit by a car.  His person, Matt, is a disabled veteran and full-time student at CSU, so money is tight.  He got his best friend to the veterinarian, who diagnosed Breadloaf with a collapsed lung and multiple pelvic fractures.  They were also initially concerned about other internal injuries and needed to get the pup into surgery right away.  Unfortunately, the estimate was in the thousands of dollars and payment in full was required prior to surgery.  Matt, and his girlfriend Emily started a Gofundme account and began researching additional funding options, which led them to HHF.  Ultimately we referred them to a nonprofit clinic in the Denver area called Planned Pethood International, whose staff jumped in and began treatment right away while the couple applied to HHF.  We approved a maximum grant to augment what Matt and Emily had been able to raise on their own.  This poor pup underwent two orthopedic surgeries in 48 hours, but did so much better than expected that he was released to go home after just three days.   Whose smile is bigger, Matt’s or Breadloaf’s?
