It’s just about time to say goodbye to 2020 and I can’t think of another year in my life that I was so glad to see end! To those of you who have lost loved ones to the pandemic this year, or for any reason, you have our sincere condolences. To those who battled the virus and won, including members of my own family, we are so glad you’re still with us. Here’s hoping the vaccines are reliable and readily available very soon.
Yes, 2020 brought many challenges and changes to our everyday lives. What has not changed is the need for charitable services. In fact, that need has grown across the board, including for Harley’s Hope. As of this writing, we have provided services for over 750 companion and service animals this year through major veterinary grants, emergency foster care and boarding, and our Covid-19 program offering pet food support to those struggling to make ends meet. Sadly, it has been a record-breaking year in terms of services provided, but we’re grateful we were able to rise to the occasion.
Historically, fourth quarter fundraising efforts have brought in roughly one-third of our annual revenue. We simply do not know if that will happen this year and are doing our level best to help as many people and pets with what we have on hand. If you are employed and healthy, we hope you’ll consider a donation to help those less fortunate. HHF is once again participating in the Indy Give! Campaign and we’ve been participating in Colorado Gives Day since 2013. We know there are those of you have been with us since the beginning—thank you! But, we also want to thank our monthly donors, our occasional donors, and community leaders such as El Pomar Foundation, who value our work and have chosen to support us during this difficult time. Our success stories are your success stories.
And, while the holidays will look very different this year, we still want to wish you all a happy and healthy season. My grown sons won’t be sitting at my table and I will miss them, but, our focus has to be on surviving the present, so we can all be together again in the future.
Best wishes!
Cynthia Bullock
