Director’s Notes

Here we are at the end of another difficult year, but still hopeful for a better future. Harley’s Hope continued to receive applications throughout 2021 from people touched by Covid either through the loss of income or loss of loved ones. We fostered several pets in need and transported one very sweet, local pup named Samantha to her new home back east (see Happy Tails). And, we continued to deliver pet food and host pet food pantries with the support of Colorado Pet Pantry, the Rescue Bank, Wag ‘N Wash on Uintah, and individuals donating pet food and supplies.

But the end of the year is not just a time for reflection, it is also a time for gratitude and looking forward. I’m excited to share that Next50 Initiative has approved a grant to allow HHF to greatly expand our Older Pet Parent Services (OPPS) program, particularly into rural areas of Colorado without subsidized veterinary care or public transportation options. The grant period begins today, December 1st, but we’ll be dedicating a full article to this grant in our February 2022 e-newsletter, so stay tuned.

Year-end is also the busiest time for raising funds. For the eighth year in a row, HHF is participating in the Indy Give! Campaign, running now until midnight of New Year’s Eve. We will also be participating in Colorado Gives Day on December 7th for our 9th year. Thank you to all of our donors who give through these campaigns, on a monthly basis, or periodically throughout the year. We literally couldn’t do it without you and your support!

Not done with your holiday shopping? Well, you’re not alone, but here’s a way to shop for a cause. HHF will have a table at All Breed Rescue’s Howl-a-day Bazaar on December 11th. Stop by to visit with groups from the Indy Give! Animal Category and pick up some fun holiday gifts for the pets and pet lovers on your shopping list.

I hope that you and your families have weathered the storm, will continue to do so, and that we can all begin to see light at the end of the tunnel heading into 2022. Happy holidays to you and your furry family members from everyone at Harley’s Hope Foundation!
