Happy Tails!

This case was a tough one! We got a call from Tina in late June asking for our help to save her son’s dog, Goober. Miss Goober was shot multiple times while saving her person during a robbery. Because the son was unable to provide care, Goober ended up at the humane society. When Tina found out, she jumped into action, agreeing to take custody of Goober, and working to raise funds for surgery on Goober’s leg.

Thankfully, shelter staff generously worked with Tina on release fees and deadlines, so HHF could focus on providing funding for the life-saving surgery. Our friends at Bijou Animal Hospital rose to the occasion, getting Goober scheduled for amputation less than 24 hours after we called them. While it is sad that Goober lost her leg, the smile on Tina’s face says it all—she survived and she’s heading home!

A special thank you to Missy, Dr. Bausch, and the Bijou client willing to change their own appointment so Goober could undergo surgery! Also, thank you to the veterinarians at Animal ER Care for providing the initial treatment to stabilize Goober after she was shot.

Here’s hoping CSPD catches the person who did this to a sweet and loyal pup. The staff at Bijou commented that even with her severe injuries, Goober entered the clinic with tail wagging and licking people’s hands!

This is what YOUR support makes possible, so thank you!
