Let me start by thanking everyone who donated to Harley’s Hope during end-of-the-calendar-year efforts. The Give! Campaign raised $25,000, and Colorado Gives Day raised just under $2,000, but, sadly, we saw far fewer donors participate in both campaigns. This is of great concern as no matter how generous a small group of donors may be, charities that do not have a large, strong donor base are at risk. Plus, with more animals going into the shelter/rescue network than we’ve seen in decades, more people, in general, need the type of services HHF offers. All of this makes us worried, but also more committed to meeting these challenges head on.
One of our goals this year, and with new leadership on the Board of Directors, is to reach out to longtime donors, volunteers, and community partners, to get feedback on how we can improve. I don’t care how long an organization has been in operation, there is always room for improvement. If you are one of the ones we contact, please take the time to speak with us or meet with us to share your thoughts. After all, it is our followers and supporters who keep the organization going. The Board and I are simply stewards of your generosity.
