Harley’s Hope is off to a busy start of our fiscal year, which began on July 1st, receiving a dozen applications for major veterinary assistance in just one week. While we would love to say yes to every person and pet in need of assistance, donations and grants are way down this calendar year, so it just isn’t possible to do so.

Those who have donated, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is so gut-wrenching to turn animals in need away, and even though funds are low, we do our best to try and offer some assistance to everyone who needs it, be it a smaller than usual grant, referrals to other programs around the country, or suggesting nonprofit veterinary options in our state.

You can also consider a planned gift through a simple bequest in your will or by designating the charity as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Planned gifts can be transformational to charities, allowing them to fund a program for an extended period of time, or even setting up an endowment to ensure the organization’s future.

I’d also like to thank the many people who responded to our recent call for dry pet food.
