Our volunteers are essential to achieving our mission of keeping pets and people together. In this edition, we’d like to introduce you to Joey Ruiz. He is one of our newer volunteers but has jumped right in to assist with food deliveries and the December Pet Pantry. Thank you Joey for supporting Harley’s Hope Foundation!
What motivates you to serve as a volunteer?
I’ve had plenty of times in my life where a helping hand made such a tremendous impact in my life and I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have that in my life. It feels good to be able to hopefully help others who may be in a bit of a rough patch themselves and pay it forward.
What brought you/keeps you as a volunteer for HHF?
I discovered HHF as I was doing research in school to become a Vet Tech. The mission of the foundation really stuck with me and is a goal I can wholeheartedly back since financial hardships shouldn’t be something that separates people from their furry companions. So after graduation, I finally had the time and reached out to see how I might be able to help!
What is one thing that volunteering has taught you?
Volunteering has taught me how much fulfillment there is in giving back to the community.
Which do you prefer: dogs or cats?
While I love cats, nothing can rival the excitement of a dog welcoming you home!
